Scratch My Face
Luigi, Ann B. and myself have been working a little bit with a really cool programming application called SCRATCH. It’s basically a graphical interface for programming little animations, funny movies, and simple games. It was built by students at MIT and the website serves as a community for users to share their creations. Luigi used the program to build a fortune teller at Maker’s Faire and equipped it with an old telephone rotary dial so people could input values to the program. The possibilities are limitless and it’s free to use. Hopefully we will be doing some workshops in the next few months for visitors and other organizations, but before then, if you want, go ahead and download the program and start messing around, its pretty simple to use. For our first project, we warped photos of our faces with extremely disturbing results. Check out our faces that we made in our first few hours of programing.
