Mission Science Workshop

Just came across this article about the Mission Science Workshop. I had never heard of this group before. Seems interesting. Has anyone checked them out yet?

I hadn’t heard of it before reading that article either, but it does seem to be right on track with what we are doing here! I’d be interested to go check it out. Like Frank, it’s impressive to see how just one individual can affect a whole community of people through teaching & communicating science.
hey guys,
Modesto and others in TI used to work and teach at the Mission Science Workshop, many years ago-I don’t know all the history, but I am pretty sure there is a long Exploratorium/Mission Science workshop connection.
Right on!
The work that came out of the Mission Science Workshop (hmmmm, I know Vicente in the EXS shop, too worked at the Mission SW, Modesto of course, and I wonder who else here?) spawned two NSF grants to start Community Science Workshops all around California and a number around the country. Pretty inspirational places – pretty small, community-based and focused, and doing great tinkering work.
Our friends at Inverness Research did the evaluation of the Workshops, and have some interesting results posted at:

A former Explo-person, Curt Gabrielson, also has a rocking workshop down in Watsonville that Modesto took me down to when I first moved here last year. Curt’s come up to the Explo a few times this year to share out his work, and we sell a book of his in our store.
Sorry for the novel – I love the work they do! I’m up for another road trip soon?!?
